CLASS SCHEDULE FALL Session – Sept. 3 – Dec. 13, 2024
BALLET PROGRAM
Creative Movement 1 – (4-5 year olds Pre-School)

A dancer MUST be 4 years old by September 1, 2024 to enter this class in Fall. An introductory class with an emphasis on fun. Movement skills are developed utilizing creative dance through problem solving. Dancers discover ways to move in space, using time and shape with games, props, stories, music under guided instruction. They explore all locomotor movements working as individuals and within the group.
Creative Movement 2 – (5 year olds Kindergarten)

Hailey, Community Campus, Thursday 3:00 – 3:45 pm
Dancers MUST be in Kindergarten and have turned 5 years old by September 1st to be in this class. A second class with emphasis on fun. Including activities similar in the Creative first year class, but expanding students ballet terminology to prepare them for understanding ballet technique. Children develop skills in moving thru space, using time and shape with games, props and music under guided instruction. They explore all the locomotor movements and participate in our annual performance in May for the first year.

A second level ballet class where dancers are introduced to more vocabulary and work to develop their musicality.
Ballet 3/4 – (4th – 7th grade)

A third level ballet class where dancers usually study for 2 years to develop strength and understanding. 4th Graders take 1x per week. 5th – 7th required to take 2x per week in in the Ballet 4 class.
Ballet 4 – (5th – 7th grade)

A fourth level ballet class where dancers usually study for 2-3 years to develop strength and understanding. If invited to join Ballet 4, required to take 2x per week with Ballet 3/4 class.
Intermediate Ballet 1/2 – (3x per week)

Dancers increase their strength and flexibility with an solid understanding of ballet technique. This pre-pointe/pointe class is by invitation only when dancers are preparing to start the study of pointe. This work begins when dancers have the strength and technical understanding and have reached the age of 11/12 years or older. This year all dancers must commit to 3x per week at this level, most dancers are in 6th grade and older and have 3 years of training starting this level.
Intermediate Ballet 3/4 – (3x per week with Pilates Conditioning)

Dancers study 3x per week with Pilates Conditioning and work on Pointe. Director Approval. This class must be entered in September. Dancers are 7th grade and older and have 3 or more years of training.
Advanced Ballet/Company – (3x per week with Pilates Conditioning)

Company class is Director approval only. Dancers take class three times per week and Pilates conditioning. They participate in an annual school tour of the Blaine County Schools with an educational dance performance, attend out of town master classes, performances, community service and are eligible to be a part of the National Honor Society of Dance Arts (NHSDA). Dancers are required to further their study during the summer with Footlight summer workshops and/or out of town workshops.
MODERN/CONTEMPORARY PROGRAM
Modern 1 – (5th – 7th grade)
Hailey, Grange Hall, Thursday 5:30 – 6:40 pm Ketchum, Studio Move, Tuesday 5:30- 6:30 pm
A dance technique that is a reflection of the individual teacher or choreographer. A contemporary form of dance that bases itself in body alignment from ballet and expands the range of movement to use the floor and understanding movement with concepts of fall-recovery, contract-release and use of gravity. A sense of vast space dominates a modern class. Dancers also work on finding their voice and improvising movement as an individual and group.
Modern 2/3 – (6th – 9th grade)
Hailey, Grange Hall, Tuesday 5:30 – 6:30 pm
A continuation of the first level class. Invitation only.
Intermediate Modern – (8th – 12th grade)
Hailey, Grange Hall, Thursday 6:45 – 8:00 pm
This class moves quicker and with more understanding of the modern principles. Dancers are strongly encouraged to study ballet and take Pilates conditioning classes at this level. Director approval.
Advanced Modern/Company – (2x per week + Pilates Conditioning)
Hailey, Grange Hall, Thursday 4:00 – 5:15 pm
Pilates Conditioning, Community Campus, Monday 4:00 – 5:00 pm
3rd class taken is discipline of choice (ballet, jazz, tap)
Company class is Director approval only. Dancers must take classes two times per week and Pilates conditioning. TAP PROGRAM
Tap 1/2 – (2nd – 5th grade)

Tap 2/3 – (5th – 10th grade)

A second level of tap to learn all the fundamentals of the technique.
Intermediate Tap – (6th– 12th grade)
Hailey, Grange Hall, Monday 4:00 – 5:00 pm
Increasing speed and the “tricks” of tap. Director approval only. Dancers are encouraged to take either ballet or modern in addition to tap at this level to increase their performance quality.
Advanced Tap/Company – (2x per week + Pilates Conditioning)

A second level jazz class. Previous Ballet or Modern class for entrance in this class. Director approval.
Intermediate Jazz 2 – (8th – 12th grade)
No class at this time.
This class moves quicker and with more understanding of jazz technique. Dancers are strongly encouraged to study ballet and take Pilates conditioning classes at this level. Director approval.

HIP HOP PROGRAM
Hip Hop Kids – (3rd – 4th grade) Ketchum, YMCA, Tuesday 4:15 – 5:15 pm (3-4th grade) Hailey, Grange Hall, Tuesday 4:15 – 5:15 pm (3-4th grade)
Street Dance. This first level class introduces our dancers to the culture of hip hop and hip hop music. All dancers must wear clean tennis shoes for class that are brought separately to class. For girls it is mandatory to wear a leotard under comfortable clothes.
Hip Hop Teen – (6th – 12th grade)
Hailey, Grange Hall, Wednesday 4:00 – 5:00 pm
Street Dance. Using the culture of hip hop and hip hop music, dancers are most familiar with this style from music videos and dance on television. All dancers must wear clean tennis shoes for class that are brought separately to class. All hip hop dancers are encouraged to take other dance forms and tumbling classes are a great addition to your dance training. For girls it is mandatory to wear a leotard under comfortable clothes.
